3. Product Review Brief
Product Review
By 2016 all major camera manufactures shifted to focusing on mirrorless camera systems. Come 2018 Nikon released it first advanced full- frame mirrorless camera system, the Nikon Z6 and the Nikon Z7. In October of 2020 the second generation of the Z7 was released. The Nikon Z 7II "builds upon the professional imaging capabilities of the Z mirrorless platform with more image quality, more dynamic range, more speed, more workflow enhancements... more of everything you want in an ultra-high-performance camera."
Recently I decided that it was time to upgrade my camera. After months of doing research, asking photographers, saving up, and convincing my parents to invest in my future career. My parents surprised me on Christmas morning with the Nikon Z7 II. They had paid a portion of the price and then the rest was up to me to pay through the payment plan that they had set up. Weeks prior to Christmas I had announced to my parents that I had finally decided upon which camera it was that I wanted. However, I was still far away from achieving my savings goal to be able to purchase the camera.
In the bundle that I received Z 7II camera body along with a 24-70mm lens. Although I do not mainly use my camera for videography the camera is built to produce quality videos. The camera is equipped with 4K UHD up to 60 frames per second. This provides a smooth high-resolution video making it perfect for creating a cinematic look and action footage. The camera also has eye-detection Auto focus during both photos and videos. This helps to ensure that the subjects eyes remain in focus even when moving.
For the camera body only, it costs around $1,899. For the kit with the body and the 24-70mm lens it is around $2,499. I feel like this is a fair price for the camera considering everything the camera is capable of. This camera is made with avid photographers and videographers in mind. This is not your average camera that you keep tucked away in the closet and only bring it out during family events. This is a camera for those pursuing a career or hobby in photography.
On the Nikon Website the camera is ranked as 4.7 out of 5 stars. It seems that several professional photographers feel that the Nikon Z7 II is a great camera.
Before getting my Nikon, I was an avid Canon user, and I did not think that I would ever switch over to a Nikon. However, after doing some research and asking more advanced photographers I decided to make the switch. I also really liked that I was able to flip and move the screen around making it easier to get shots from different angles. I also liked the quality that the image showed on the screen. With my Canon it was hard to really see all the details of the image until I had exported it to my laptop. With my Nikon I can easily see the image, and I can zoom in by using the touch screen.
I also like that I can connect my iPhone to my camera through Bluetooth and Wi-Fi built into the camera. Using the app SnapBridge it allows me to see all of the images on my phone as I am taking them. This is very helpful in making sure that the images are exactly as I want them prior to editing. This app is also helpful when taking videos. Through the app I can have almost full control of my camera. For example, if I wanted to record myself, I could set my camera up on a tripod and then set myself up in front of the camera. Once I am ready, I can press record on my iPhone. If I needed to zoom in or zoom out I could do that as well as end the recording when I am done.
In conclusion, I believe that the Nikon Z7 II is a great camera for those wanting to venture out into the world of photography or videography. With the Nikon you are getting a great camera that is built to withstand whatever environment your photography adventure takes you in.
